DOWNTOWN STREET CLOSURES FOR CRITERIUM

On Sunday, April 17, 2011, from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., travel
restrictions will in place throughout the downtown area for the Downtown
Tucson Criterium event.  Closed will be: 

· Church Avenue from Alameda Street to Broadway
· Pennington Street from Sixth Avenue to Church Avenue
· Congress Street from Sixth Avenue to Church Avenue
· Alameda Street from Sixth Avenue to Church Avenue
· Stone Avenue from Toole Avenue to Broadway

Motor vehicles can use Broadway, 6th Avenue, Toole Avenue, and Granada
Avenue as an alternate route. 

The traveling public can expect delays when driving in these areas. 
For your safety, please observe all traffic control signage, message
boards, and obey speed limits.

smoothly and safely. The Department’s nearly 250 employees oversee the
maintenance and reconstruction of nearly 1,900 lane miles of streets and
are responsible for hundreds of drainage structures, public art pieces,
street lights and signs, and traffic signs and signals in Tucson. TDOT
also operates the City’s transit services, Sun Tran and Sun Van.

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS FOR GABA BICYCLE SWAP MEET


On Sunday, April 17, 2011, the City of Tucson Department of
Transportation will restrict travel for the Greater Arizona Bicycling
Association (GABA) Bicycle Swap Meet. 

Travel restrictions will take place from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this
time, travel will be prohibited on Fourth Avenue between Sixth Street
and Ninth Street.

The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or
walking in this area. Please obey all traffic control signs.

			<title>FIRST AVENUE AND WETMORE ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT</title>
			<description>
On Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at about 8 p.m., work crews from the City
of Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance
Division will begin an intersection improvement project on First Avenue
and Wetmore Road. Crews will be milling (removing) asphalt in the center
turn lane of First Avenue, south of Wetmore Road. Once crews mill the
existing asphalt and improve the subgrade, they will begin repaving the
roadway. This work is scheduled to be complete by 4 p.m. on Wednesday,
April 13, 2011.

During this work, there will be one lane of travel in each direction on
First Avenue at Wetmore Road. Northbound left turns from First Avenue to
westbound Wetmore Road will be prohibited.    

The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or
walking in this work area.  Business access will be maintained.  For
your safety, please observe all traffic control signage, message boards,
and obey reduced speed limits.  Watch for construction personnel and
equipment in the work zone.

INTERSECTION OF TANQUE VERDE AND HOUGHTON ROADS
TANQUE VERDE ROAD: CATALINA HIGHWAY TO HOUGHTON ROAD
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Pima County, Ariz. – On Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Pima County Department of Transportation and its contractor, will install a permanent traffic signal at the intersection of Tanque Verde and Houghton Road.
Sheriff’s deputies will direct traffic through the intersection. Approach the area cautiously and obey all traffic-control devices.
The Pima County Department of Transportation reminds motorists that the speed limit through the construction zone is 25 mph.
In the event of inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.
